The Truth
david falcone

Taken from my sleep by the rising sun,

pouring through my window, I must be the one

a dream I was having remained in place,

frozen by the heat I felt on my face

A woman I knew from many years ago,

stood in the doorway telling me "I told you so"

She shook her head and she shook her fist,

"God, how much of life you've missed."

I tried to warn you, I tried so hard

when your skin touched mine

on the floor of the prison yard

I know I was the first, but we're all the same

I did what I had to,

to keep you coming back again

Her power was her tenderness,

her beauty and her voice

triggered by some openness

to eliminate the choice

As the sun moved on through the eastern sky

It was so hard to speak although I'd try

I was so confused, only half awake

when I finally spoke this is what escaped

The Secret is just a painless lie

And the Lie is just the Truth before you open your eyes

Her power is her tenderness,

her beauty and her voice

triggered by my openness

to eliminate the choice

The secret is a painless lie,

the truth without the tears

The lie is just a harmless way

to eliminate the fear

Don't you dare ask me what I'm asking for

I can still enjoy the game

when there's no point in playing

I'll walk the walk and talk the talk

Just pretend and call it Real ... it's much easier that way
